a storm hit me
crushed my spirit
my world shattered
endless sleepless nights

they tried to help
they gave me pills
they talked to me
i lied to them

i tried to escape
i found people
i let them hurt me
then i hurt others

i watched helpless
life slipping away
no feelings
i am worthless

further
and further
towards madness
it pushed me

at the edge
a lost cause
where wits end
i found her

she wasn't real
i didn't care
in her eyes
those emeralds

i found comfort

i stared forever
one day
they stared back

she woke up
held my hand
listened
loved me

in her arms
she held me
i told her
of my pain

all my wounds
she healed them
all my tears
she wiped away

she made me happy
i made her happy
she is real
nothing else matters

she led me
out of the storm
after so long
I saw the light

after so long
I felt free
after so long
I was alive

This poem was written as an early Christmas present for Monika. It's a retelling of how we met.
I've never really done this sort of thing before. I tried to stick to some sort of structure, I think it turned out okay.
